Walkable Community

In North Walsham West, the public realm will be designed around people rather than cars to help create a pleasant environment and a series of well-connected streets and squares.

The Weavers Way will form a green spine with a series of green corridors and paths providing safe and direct routes to all areas. These green corridors will take people to the new Town Park and to the play areas that will be located through-out NW West.
The public footpaths that from Aylsham Road and Norwich Road that cross the site will run through wide green corridors providing convenient access into town and into the wider countryside including Bryant’s Heath.

There will be improvements to cycle and walking links into the town centre and other key services such as the rail station, Millfield School and Victory Centre.

NW West will integrate residential, retail and business uses with public amenities, so many people are able to live and work without the reliance on motor vehicles. Many daily needs can be met on foot, but there will still be ample provision for car parking. Streets will be designed to constrain car speeds.
