Elderly person’s accommodation and specialist homes

Meeting the housing needs of an aging population, both in terms of the traditional housing stock and specialist types of elderly care, will become increasingly important in North Walsham over the next 20 years. The Western Extension will provide housing that is designed to meet the needs of particular groups in society whose accommodation needs cannot be met in general purpose housing schemes. These include sheltered and assisted living schemes for the elderly, disabled, and other groups.

There will be a minimum of 3 specialist care or elderly care sites with a minimum of 80 bed spaces each. They will be delivered in phases and integrated with wider development to enable residents to play an integral part in the community.
