Housing Types

A Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) has been prepared for the District which provides information in relation to the number of homes required, their size and their tenure. It concludes that there are likely to be high levels of need for two and three bedroom properties and a growing need for single bedroom homes and flats in the affordable sector.

  • 50% (approx.) of homes will be 2 or 3 bedroom homes

  • 10% (approx.) of the affordable homes will be Low Cost Home Ownership with the remainder being rented

  • 2% (approx.) of the homes (around 36) will serviced self-build plots

  • The housing mix will intersperse bungalows, elderly, flats and family homes to promote multi-generational communities.
